
After nearly three hours of trading on Tuesday, the index lost 48.21 points or 0.88 percent to stand at 5375.70 points.
Shares worth Tk 1.13 billion had changed hands by then, with 53 issues advancing, 182 declining and 10 remaining unchanged.
The DSE general index hit a high of 5462 points within 10 minutes of trading.
But only 15 minutes later, the index dropped to 5415.7 points.
At 11.35 am, the market peaked again with the general index crossing the 5445 mark. However, nine minutes later, the total gain in the index stood at 6.03 points, with the index slipping to 5430 points.
The index gained 36.87 points or 0.68 percent to close at 5423.91 points amid protests and steps taken to stabilise the drooping capital market on Monday.
Monday's turnover was Tk 2.27 billion, the lowest in the past nine months. On Jan 25, the DSE turnover was Tk 2.06 billion.
