Khagrachharhi, Nov 6 (bdnews24.com) ? A fire has burnt over 150 houses and shops at Dighinala upazila in Khagrachharhi hills district .

The flames are believed to have originated from an electrical short-circuit at a tea-stall in Babucharha market around 2pm on Sunday, police said.

Mohammad Shahadat Hossain Titu, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dighinala Police Station, said the Fire Brigade personnel were a bit late to arrive at the scene even though they were informed immediate after the accident.

"They came only after the houses and shops were completely burned down," he alleged.

Referring to the victims, the OC said the fire caused a loss of about Tk 20 million as it annihilated a total of 110 shops and 47 houses.
